About Crime Prevention Services
A Family-Run Business Redefining Fire and Security
At Crime Prevention Services, we’ve been protecting people and property with care, integrity and a commitment to doing the job properly since 1982.

Big Enough to Deliver,
Small Enough to Care.
Being family-run isn’t a strapline for us. It’s how the business works.
We take time to understand our clients, tailor solutions to their environments and build long-term relationships based on trust rather than promises. That balance — technical expertise with a personal approach — is what has driven our growth for more than four decades.
We don’t believe in installing systems and walking away. As an NSI Gold–accredited provider, everything we do at Crime Prevention Services is handled in-house, from bespoke system design and installation, to proactive maintenance and 24/7 monitoring through our own Alarm Receiving Centre.
That means clearer accountability, faster response, and consistent standards across every site.

Karen Farrell

Karen Farrell became Managing Director in 2006, guiding Crime Prevention Services through continued growth while keeping the company’s founding values firmly in place.
Hands-on and approachable, Karen is closely involved in every part of the business, with particular focus on finance, compliance and client service. Her leadership has shaped a culture built on transparency, fairness and doing the right thing — even when it’s the harder option.
Delivering a clear, seamless experience for clients, from first conversation through to long-term maintenance, is central to how Crime Prevention Services operates today.
Beyond the business, Karen served as High Sheriff of Clwyd (2024–2025), reflecting her long-standing commitment to community engagement, public service and safety.

Brad Farrell
Director
Brad Farrell plays a key role in driving the business forward, developing strategic partnerships and maintaining consistently high standards of client care.
Joining Crime Prevention Services straight from school, Brad gained hands-on experience across every department, including several years working as a security engineer. That grounding gives him a deep, practical understanding of systems, installations and the realities clients face on site.
Collaborative and forward-thinking, Brad focuses on delivering tailored, compliant solutions that work in the real world, and building strong relationships with clients and industry partners alike.

Our History
Crime Prevention Services: A Business Shaped by Experience
Crime Prevention Services was founded in 1982 by the late Geoff Farrell.
After starting his career in sales, Geoff decided to build something of his own — a UK security business based on reliability, technical know-how and trust. With the support of his friend Dave Evans, who remained Technical Manager for over three decades, the company grew steadily before relocating to a site of converted farm buildings in Northop.
The tecdesk Launched
Building on our expertise and reputation, we launched The tecdesk to bring the same level of service and responsiveness from security into IT.

High Sheriff of Clwyd
Karen’s appointment as High Sheriff of Clwyd reflected the values that run through the business: responsibility, care and a genuine commitment to the community.

Business Service B2B Awards
Crime Prevention Services won Business Service B2B at the North West Family Business Awards, recognising our commitment to quality, innovation and service.

Expanding for the Future
As demand grew, we expanded our office and storage facilities. This investment allowed us to better support our team and manage larger projects, supporting our long-term growth.

Supporting Our Community
We supported the purchase of our first “Chloe Lou” Blood Bike, helping deliver urgent medical transport across Wales. Named in memory of Geoff and Karen’s daughter, Chloe, it carries deep personal meaning, and remains a cause we’re proud to support.

Strengthening Our Presence
We completed our first acquisition, strengthening our presence in a key region. The move allowed us to build on existing relationships and enhance our service offering. It marked the start of a more strategic approach to growth.

Office Renovation
We undertook a full renovation of our office space to support a growing team. The new environment was designed to encourage collaboration and improve day-to-day working, and reflects how the business continues to evolve.

London Overground Contract
We secured a major contract to deliver bespoke monitoring and call centre support for London Overground lift services. The project required a tailored, responsive approach to meet complex operational demands. Its success demonstrated our ability to deliver at scale.

Developing Future Leadership
Brad Farrell joined the business as a junior engineer, learning the industry from the ground up. Over time, he progressed through the company, building experience across every level. Today, he sits on the board as a Director.

Major Contract Wins
We began a partnership with Huws Gray that would become one of our most important client relationships. As they expanded across the UK, our role grew with them. It’s a partnership that still reflects our belief in long-term relationships done properly.

Leadership & Recognition
Karen Farrell was named Flintshire Businesswoman of the Year, recognising her leadership and impact. That same year, she stepped into the role of Managing Director. Under her guidance, the business entered a new phase of growth.

Resilience & Investment
Following the loss of our founder Geoff, the business faced a defining moment. The team held strong, continuing to invest in people, infrastructure and service standards. In the same year, we achieved BAFE accreditation, reinforcing our commitment to fire safety.

National Supermarket Contract
Securing a major national contract accelerated growth across the business and opened the door to further nationwide partnerships.

Our Own In-House Alarm Receiving Centre
In 2001, we took a major step forward by building our own in-house Alarm Receiving Centre, the first of its kind in Wales. It gave us full control over monitoring and response, setting us apart from other providers. That decision continues to shape how we deliver service today.

Purpose-Built HQ in Northop
A new head office was built on the A55 near Chester, replacing a derelict farm building. After several expansions, it remains our headquarters today.

NSI Gold
Shortly after opening our doors, founder Geoff Farrell achieved NSI Gold accreditation, an extraordinary milestone at the time. It set a clear standard for how the business would operate. That commitment to quality still underpins everything we do today.

Founded in Deeside
Crime Prevention Services began with a clear focus: delivering professional, dependable security solutions. Early growth led to a second office in Clitheroe, expanding our reach across the UK.
