HUWS GRAY: FIRE & SECURITY CASE STUDY
Supporting Huws Gray’s Growth With Nationwide Security

Huws Gray has grown from its North Wales roots into the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant, with hundreds of branches and sites across the country.
CPS has supported that growth over many years. What began with individual installations has developed into a nationwide partnership covering the design, installation, maintenance and monitoring of fire and security systems across the Huws Gray estate.

The Challenge
Huws Gray’s estate includes builders’ merchant branches, storage facilities and large yards containing valuable stock, machinery and equipment. As the business expanded through acquisition, each new location brought different layouts, infrastructure and existing fire and security systems.
The challenge was to create a more consistent approach across the estate while still responding to the needs of each individual site.
Huws Gray needed:
Protection for employees, stock, machinery and equipment
A clear approach for integrating newly acquired locations
Existing systems upgraded where required
Security that worked around day-to-day operations
Faults and issues identified and resolved quickly
Ongoing support without adding pressure to internal teams
Our Solution
We support Huws Gray with a wide range of fire and security services across its estate, tailoring each system to the requirements of the individual location.
This includes CCTV, intruder and fire alarm systems, system upgrades, preventative maintenance and 24/7 remote monitoring through our in-house Alarm Receiving Centre. Our teams also provide ongoing technical support as sites change or new locations are added.
Alongside this, we have been upgrading signalling and communications infrastructure. Across an estate of this scale, these improvements make systems easier to manage and help maintain continuity as technology changes.
